What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a site. It can, for example, remember your preferences or measure traffic. We also use your browser’s local storage, which works in a similar way. On this page, “cookie” covers both mechanisms.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary
Always on, with no tracking. They are essential to the site working properly and are kept in your browser:
- remembering your choice about audience measurement, so you are not asked on every page;
- remembering your display preference (light or dark theme).
Audience measurement (subject to your consent)
To understand how the site is used and improve it, we use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager. These cookies (for example _ga, _gid) are only set after you accept: until you choose, none are active. They produce aggregate traffic statistics and are never used to identify you personally.
We use no advertising cookies.
Managing your cookies
On your first visit, a banner invites you to accept or decline audience measurement. You can change your choice at any time using the “Manage cookies” button at the bottom of every page.
You can also set your browser to block or delete cookies. The CNIL (the French data protection authority) offers guidance on this at cnil.fr. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may degrade how the site works.
How long they last
Your consent choice and display preference stay in your browser until you change them or clear your browsing data. Audience-measurement cookies have a lifespan set by the tool, within the thirteen-month limit recommended by the CNIL.
