There are two questions hiding behind the word “backup”. The first: never losing your data, whatever happens. The second, for those it concerns: knowing where it lives. We handle both calmly, without dramatising or selling you a worry.
Never losing your data
A backup you’ve never restored isn’t a backup, it’s a hope. The standard we recommend is simple: two independent copies of your data. One in your Microsoft 365, a second elsewhere. If ransomware encrypts everything, if someone deletes the wrong folder, if a disk gives out, there’s always an untouched copy to start again from.
And we test the restore, because the day you need it is not the moment to discover the copy was empty. It’s the kind of check nobody ever thinks to run themselves, and it’s the thing that changes everything when an incident hits.
Keeping control of where it lives
For most companies, Microsoft 365 as it stands is the right choice, and we say so. But some prefer to keep their infrastructure off the big American clouds: a sector that requires it, clients who ask for it, or simply the wish to decide where their data lives.
For them, we offer a dedicated private cloud that keeps your data where you choose: in the EU, or in the jurisdiction your business needs. Switzerland or Jersey, say, if that’s where it has to be. Not a scare story about this or that foreign law: just a clear fact, stated for those who value it. You decide where your data lives, and you know who can reach it. And if it has to stay in one specific country, tell us and we set it up that way.
A decision you make with the full picture
Backup, hosting, recovery: these are areas where it’s easy to be sold too much, or too little. Our role is to tell you what genuinely protects your business given how you work, then put it in place and keep it there.
And if your sector requires you to keep certain data for a set time, we set the retention period to match, without making it a source of worry. If the distinction isn’t clear to you, we explain it in our article on the difference between retention and backup. You stay in control of your data; we make sure it’s there when you need it.
